Bantayan Island: One day getaway

December 14, 2017

They said "love connects us with everything, everyone and something or someone" but for me, we are all connected by a love for travel.

I hope this blog will inspire you to pack up everything and head out into the unknown, to explore the farthest of our planet and your soul, to see the world for what it really is.

For millennials like me, nowadays, traveling takes place. Focusing on which place they are heading to or which day or season they are gonna start wandering around the country they had chosen to visit.

I don't wanna be a foreigner in my own country so I am going to start my journey of course from the country that I love the most, Philippines 🇵🇭.

Living for more than a year here in Cebu have given me a chance to explore its beauty, culture and the hospitality of the people. I was so stunned and in love with the beauty of nature of this place.

Paradise Beach, Bantayan Island, Cebu

Bantayan Island is part of the province of Cebu. And going there via Cebu City is the most and easiest and convenient way. Here's how:

  •      From NORTH BUS TERMINAL take a bus going to HAGNAYA PORT. It takes about 4 hours to arrive so you should better have something to grab on or just have a long nap on the bus. Bus Fare: P165

  •      At the HAGNAYA PORT, board the Island Shipping or Super Shuttle Ferry going to SANTA FE. Fare: P170

Below are the schedules of trips from Hagnaya Port:

Hagnaya Port - Santa Fe

Santa Fe - Hagnaya Port

*Ferry Schedules may vary or subject to change without prior notice.

Where to stay in Bantayan Island

You can find gorgeous resorts in the island to stay but of course many of us wanna be practical so I recommend you to look for a room or house to be rented upon staying in the island. There are a bunch of them waiting to be occupied but if you wanna have more private and harmonious stay there, why not book a room in some pleasant resorts like Kota Beach Resort, Ogtong Cave Resort, Amihan Beach Cabanas and more.

Places to visit in Bantayan

Paradise Beach, if you wanna getaway from the crowd, this is the place you should fly to. Entrance Fee is only for P50 and you can enjoy this peaceful place.

Cliff diving spot or known as The Ruins, where you can jump off your fears and have an amazing time floating and swimming along with the locals and other backpackers and city folks.

The Ruins, Cliff Diving Site

*They are maybe renovating the place so it was covered
when we went there but you can still enter the site

If you are adventurous enough, you may rent a bicycle or motorcycle to kill more time visiting nearby places. Rates are between P150-P300 for 24hours.

Staying in such a beautiful island like Bantayan is full of fun, excitement and worth of your time, money and energy. So if you have more non-busy days, never ever think twice to extend your stay and explore more about this place.

There's more than this place here in Philippines waiting for you to discover its hidden beauty.

  Here's how to get there:

  • From Cebu City, head to North Bus Terminal and hop on the bus going to Hagnaya Port. Bus fare is less than 200 pesos. Travel time is about 3-4 hours depending on the day or traffic.
  • Upon arrival at Hagnaya Port, you may buy your ferry tickets going to Santa Fe Port. Fare: 170 pesos and an additional 10 pesos for the terminal fee. Travel time is 1 hour.
  • At Santa Fe port, many tricycle drivers are haggling over for passengers. If your hotel offers free shuttle, you may contact them ahead of time or you may wait them near the tourism office or gate.
