PHILIPPINES: EL NIDO, PALAWAN: TOUR A

July 04, 2018

Flying to one of the top destinations in the Philippines, El Nido, located on the northernmost part of Palawan, is one of my greatest achievement this year. Knowing that Philippines is surrounded by beautiful and astonishing white sand beaches, El Nido should be on your bucketlist when visiting the country. Palawan is the fountainhead of majestic lagoons, unique islands and stunning white sand beaches.

*This article will introduce and give you some ideas about TOUR A. ( EL NIDO , PALAWAN )

First things first, we book our tour through KLOOK since they offer the cheapest price compared to the agencies that are lining up around the downtown area.

Our guide picked us up beforehand than we expected. We arrived at Jhanna’s Travel/Inn and paid the Environment Fee that was 200Php per person (valid for 10 days).

First stop, Seven Commando Beach. You can do snorkeling and swim in its pristine water. You can find some restaurants or bars along the beach.

Second stop, Small Lagoon. Composed of sharp vertically formed stones, forms a lagoon of shallow water. Locals offer kayaks for those who can’t swim and wanna have a great time wandering around the lagoon. It costs 400Php (good for 2) or 700Php (good for 3-4).

Entering the small hole as the entrance, you’ll be feeling like you’re in the fairytale while seeing the enchanted lagoon. We stayed there for about 30-40 minutes just enough to see the whole place.

Third stop, Big Lagoon. Three times bigger than the small lagoon, this place is all about cruising around the majestic and turquoise water surrounded by huge limestone cliffs.

Again, when you want to explore around this lagoon, you need to rent for a kayak or if you have a brave heart swimming along the shallow water you might not need one. But don’t worry, if it’s high tide, the boat can go inside the Big Lagoon, it just happened that it’s low tide so we prefer renting a kayak to explore what’s inside of it.

While paddling around the lagoon, we bump into our tour guide and encouraged us to go and climb to a not-so-big/high cliff to take some pictures and see the entire lagoon.

We jumped off the cliff after taking pictures of the view and that was so satisfying. If you try next time, be careful as there are so many sea urchins around this place.

For our lunch, supposed to be at Shimizu Island but because the current and waves are too strong, we aren’t able to go there instead we had our lunch at the beach that I forgot the name. *sorry*

Foods are good and served with some vegetables and fresh fruits. Our guides were so creative that they carved different kinds of animals and shapes out of fruits.

Last stop, Secret Lagoon. Secret no more! Through a small hole in the rocks will lead you to the secret lagoon. Nothing’s so special but the place itself.

Beside of it was a beach where you can see some cute dogs that serves as guards and some locals guarding the place too.

We finished our tour around 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Even though everyone was tired, I can see their faces smiling and happy to see the wonders of El Nido.

Book your Tour here!!!

How to get there? Puerto Princesa Int'l Airport to EL NIDO )

  • You can book your plane tickets directly to El Nido, Palawan but it will cost you triple than a flight going to Puerto Princesa.
  • From Puerto Princesa Int'l Airport, you'll see some vans waiting outside going to different places. There will be some barkers or drivers who'll ask you where you are heading to. My friend who lives in Puerto Princesa took us to Eulen Joy Express/tours to book our Van going to El Nino (back and forth). It costs 500 pesos/way.

When in El Nido...

☝️You'll see bunch of restaurants, souvenir shops, convenient stores and limited ATM machines, so oneself should bring enough cash.
☝️Bring aqua shoes or sports sandals with you. You may rent aqua shoes at some shops for 100Php if you forgot or need one.
☝️Don't forget to ask for the receipt of your Environmental Fee or if you already paid, bring it with you every time whenever you go island hopping around Palawan. The ETD fee is valid for 10 days .
