PATTAYA: " Sin City of Thailand "

March 10, 2018

Thailand is not just about temples, historical sites and religious beliefs but on the other side, Thailand is a great host to a beguiling range of attractions.

Pattaya City considered and called by some as a "Sin city" where sex industry is famous. But that's not Pattaya is all about. There are lots of family-friendly attractions and activities you can do here. Here are the places I went when I had a one day trip in Pattaya.

① Sanctuary of Truth

Sanctuary of truth is an all-wood religious infrastructure filled with sculptures based traditional Buddhist and Hindu motifs. Wearing safety gears such as hard hat is provided and recommended while on the premises as the construction is on-going and to avoid some serious accidents

Through elaborate carvings and sculptures, it pays tribute to the seven creators man cannot exist without: Heaven, Earth, Father, Mother, Moon, Sun and Stars. Deeply embedded into all of this are ancient Buddhist, Hindu, Brahman and other spiritual and philosophical elements.

② Khao Chi Chan (Buddha mountain)

The largest engraved Buddha in the world. Using a laser, this 130 metres in height and 70 metres in width gold-embossed image was carved out of a limestone mountain. The grounds in front of Buddha Mountain include a temple, with saffron-robed monks a common sight, so appropriate clothing is recommended (clothing that covers shoulders and legs above the knee). Beyond this, there are no fees or restrictions on entering the grounds and getting up close to the awe-inspiring image.

Nong Nooch Tropical Garden and Cultural Village

Nong Nooch Garden is set in a 2.4sq.km. beautifully landscaped park and can easily make an all-day trip. The entire area is more like a theme park, with daily cultural shows, restaurants and accommodation as well as a vast area showcasing individually themed gardens. There were various of gardens that surrounds the area such as 7th-century French garden, Stonehenge, or European Renaissance garden.

Apart from the botanical park, Nong Nooch Garden features daily shows at the Thai Cultural Hall. Enjoy the spectacle of sights and sounds in a classical Thai dance, Muay Thai or ancient drum performance.

④ Koh Larn Beaches

Koh Larn has six main beaches. All of the beaches are of white sand and clear waters. You will find food services restrooms and showers at all beaches as well. Beach chairs run around a 100 Baht at most places. Because you are paying for beach chairs you can bring along your own food and drinks if you like and save a little money.

You could opt to rent a motorbike for 300 Baht a day, be sure you know how to handle a motorbike. There are many road signs on the island should keep you from getting too lost. Be careful while riding around it can be easy to be taken in by the scenery and get into an accident, it is best to stop and look around.
